Employment at WCS
Last October I applied online for a seasonal position with WCS. (Wildlife Conservation Society)
To my pleasant surprise, I was called and hired in February. Training soon began and the inconsistencies began. As I see it, directly or indirectly, numerous inconsistencies within a non-profit are a threat to it's success. Once we all began our new positions while being overseen and coached by yearly staff, it was still a pleasant job experience. My position consisted of duties rotated and incorporated amongst 3 different departmental roles. I was not compensated any better for having different/additional duties all while WCS wastes money on things like free park/zoo maps even though they are posted throughout the property AND there is also an app you can view the map on. On some days I would return from one work area to the group sales office for additional and end of day duties to repeatedly find there were not enough computers to accomodate us all. This makes doing my job particularly difficult as you might understand. My boss, Ingrid, and immediate supervisor, Tasha, were two of the best things about the job, I must say. Also, I had several co-workers whom I particularly cared for, one being a younger gentlemen who I found to be phenomenal in general.
