KIDDE Fire Alarm/Smoke Detectore/Carbon Monoxide Alert
So, I was frying something one night and splashed onto the electric coils. The smoke was instantaneous and abundant. My detector goes off and she says "FIRE FIRE FIRE" and it is BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEPING. Being a little too irritated at once I quickly put down the pan, twist the detector and pull it down out of my ceiling. Some wires become detached.
A few days later, I attempt to re-connect the KIDDE unit and WHAMO! The circuit breaker trips and I lose power all along one wall in my apartment. I don't really like maintenance or anyone to come in here and I do not want them to know about this whole ordeal. Long story short, I end up emailing KIDDE Customer Support. To my pleasant surprise, a few days later, I receive a reply from a gentleman at KIDDE, who says he will be sending out 2 NEW harnasses complete at no cost to me.
THIS is a company that knows integrity, and real Customer appreciation.
On another note/hand, the staff running and working in my building (for dually diagnosed, special needs people) are most often edgy, impolite, exhibit and directing anger at myself and others here. Very unprofessional (HOGAR Inc. Bronx, NY) and even demeaning at times. Residents including myself are treated as if we do not really struggle with personal matters which are the reasons why we were accepted for an apartment here.
Most recently, I notified them that my AC hasn't been blowing cold since LAST September. It took me almost 3 weeks to get a verbal response which resulted in my having to miss days of WORK so they could try to service it and wouldn't enter without me present. (mind you within my first year living here, they entered illegally due to a complaint by a neighbor who I had left a note asking to call me. No emergency or threat.) The legalities that would need to ensue were way too large to tackle by myself with little money for a lawyer. Free legal aid wouldn't get involved. I have Aquagenic Pruritis and NEED to be able to regulate temperature at home so at least, at home I don't have to suffer as much.
I called 311 to report that my condition and broken AC. I had been told new ACs were ordered than 4 days later brought me a used AC that had been serviced. It works find , thank God. Although, when Darryl Cummings/Resident Manager received notice of my calling 411, he raised his voice very loud and reprimanded me like a child. It was upsetting but nevertheless, I need to get my crap in order so I can move someplace with less BS.
